Terms of Appointment
The Head of House’s salary is currently £120,000 per annum and will be reviewed annually by the College’s Remuneration Committee. The appointment is for a seven year fixed term. The Principal is offered membership of the USS pension scheme.
The Principal has a Personal Assistant and administrative support and will be provided with an additional entertainment allowance.
Combination with other appointments
The post of Head of House can only be combined with any other paid appointment with the explicit consent of the Governing Body.
Residence
The Principal is required by the College Statutes to reside in the College for not less than seven calendar months in the academic year and most certainly during term time. Radcliffe House, the Principal’s residence, is in the located on the main College site. It is furnished and provided free of rent, property-based taxes, cost of heat, light and water, and agreed costs of internal decoration. The College would expect short-listed candidates to visit Radcliffe House, and to discuss with the College their needs and preferences.
If the Principal has a spouse or partner and / or children, the College will of course welcome them but will have no expectations of them with regard to any aspect of support of the Head of House’s duties.
